Finding us

The Isle of Mull is easy to get to, with three separate car ferries running to the mainland. The most popular and largest sails from Oban to Craignure. This ferry takes 45 minutes, and Bac Mór is then about 35 minutes drive from Craignure. Booking is essential for this crossing: phone 0875650000 or visit www.calmac.co.uk. Bac Mór itself is on the west coast of Mull. One aspect of being in a district with such very low housing density is that a single postcode covers quite a large area. Therefore postcodes aren't always very useful for finding your way around!
A zoomable map showing the general location of Bac Mór is available here. (Please note that this link will open in a new browser window.)
Using that link along with the map opposite and the following directions should help you find your way - it is actually very easy.
Directions
There are two routes to Bac Mor, depending on whether you are coming from the South (Salen) or North (Dervaig) of Mull.
From Salen
Take the left turn at Salen onto the B8035, and at Gruline take the left turn (signposted Ulva Ferry) onto the B8073. You follow the B8073 around the shores of Loch Na Keal, past Ulva Ferry and alongside Loch Tuath. About 3.5 miles after Ulva Ferry you will pass Fanmore and shortly afterwards you'll see a sign (marked by a triangle on the map on this page) for Grouse Cottage. The turning for Bac Mor is about a third of mile after this sign, on the right.
From Dervaig
Leave Dervaig village on the B8073 heading towards Calgary. After about a mile, just after leaving the side of Loch Cuin, take the unnumbered road on your left, signposted to Ulva Ferry. Stay on this road until it (re)joins the B8073 at Achleck and then turn to the left, signposted Ulva Ferry. The Bac Mor turning is about a third of a mile after this junction, and is on the left.
